THE ARITA PORCELAIN TRADE SHOW
2000
|
|
General
Infomation |
It
is a great pleasure for me to have this opportunity to extend a warm
welcome to American people.
This is the third Greater Arita Porcelain Trade Show,
held in the U.S.A. Our
five participating companies have produced truly handsome works,
each with an emphasis on their own characteristics.
Arita
ware has earned a prestigious place in American porcelain world. In
1876, our works won the gGrand Prixh at the Philadelphia
International Exhibition, which was held in honor of the American
Centennial Year. Then, at the 1904 St. Louis International
Exhibition, we again earned the first prize with a set of refined,
five foot tall temple jars. One of the pair is now in Arita, and the
other can be viewed at the Philadelphia Civic Center.
In 1979, Arita entered
into a gsister-cityh contract with Meissen in Germany. Meissen
is a leading area in European porcelain production and has produced
works similar to Arita ware since early eighteenth century.
Not only in America,
but throughout the world, Arita ware represents brilliant tradition
of ceramic arts and a technique of 400 years old.
We would welcome any comments or suggestions about Arita ware.
Please enjoy this Arita Porcelain Trade Show.
